The ten-yearly population censuses allow the figures on the composition of the population to be established by sex, age, nationality and commune of residence. Between two censuses, the population at 1st January of year x is assessed by adding the natural (births-deaths) and migratory (arrivals-departures) balances for the year to the population at 1st January of year x-1. The same method is applied for the split by age at 1st January and the total number of people by nationality.
