Graphs view

First a preview chart appears where you can adjust the dimension selections. Once you are satisfied, click the preview chart to enlarge it. The number of rows in a chart is limited to the number of available colours (64 by default). If a chart has too many rows to display in one chart it will be split into multiple preview charts.

There is no limit to the number of columns a chart can have. Therefore a large data series of more than 64 items should be placed on the columns.

Drilling down into a group

Drilling down into a group creates a new chart showing only the members of the group.

Groups in charts are represented in two ways.

By shaded boxes in the legend area. Click on a shaded box to drill down. In the following image, All Gender represents a group.

Hovering over an item that represents a group shows a popup that says "Click to drill down." Click anywhere on the item to drill down into the group. Once you have drilled down into a group, you can use your browser's "Back" button to drill back up.

Reading summary information

  • Click on an Info icon to read the summary notes for reports, dimensions, and items.

Actions

The action buttons on a chart tab are used to organize and print the chart's data.

Select items to view

To open a dimension on the Item selection page, use the "Select items to view" button.

The Item selection page enables you to choose the items that will make up a dimension. Click the name of the dimension whose items you want to view.

Chart types

To change the chart type, click the "Chart types" button on the toolbar.

The following chart types are provided :

Pie 3D pie
Bar 3D bar
Lines Spline
Column (default) Stacked bar
Stacked column

View data labels

To add data labels to a chart, click the "View data labels" button on the toolbar. Adds data labels (values) to a chart. If cell-level metadata is present in the chart, the footnote or missing value indicators also appear as part of the labels.

Showing data labels introduces greater precision into a chart view. However, showing labels can also make a chart look cluttered.

View printable version

To view your chart in printable form, click the "View printable version" button on the toolbar

If you have selected "View data labels", the printable version will show the labels with any footnote and missing value indicators that are present appended to them. Footnote and missing value dictionaries will also be included at the bottom of the printable chart view. These dictionaries list all the footnote and missing value indicators, along with the complete text of the footnotes and missing values.

Prepares your chart for printing by removing distracting page elements, such as menus and toolbars. To print the chart, use your browser's Page Setup, Print Preview, and Print commands.
