Enterprises


Financial services (banks, financial auxiliaries) are the driver of the Luxembourg economy. The significance of industry has undergone a relatively sustained decrease: it represented nearly a quarter of the total added value in 1985, compared to slightly more than one-tenth in 2003. This "loss of influence" was mainly to the benefit of business services initially, and then to the benefit of the financial sector. Transport and communications, which represent one of the most dynamic branches in terms of growth. For all of the other branches, their share is stable overall. The significance of agriculture has however been reducing progressively.
